Captured Bubble Light

hand blown glass bubble in a brass frame, to capture light!

When blowing soap bubbles in the air Iris & Ruben had the dream to capture these temporary beauties in a tendril frame. The fascinating effect of a floating bubble which adapt to its surrounding until it snaps, was the inspiration for a new series of lighting in glass combined with brass by Studio Thier&vanDaalen.

They came up with the idea to blow a round bubble of glass in a square frame made from brass, as if it was blown in gold. The brass joining is inspired by those of Gerrit Rietveld, minimalistic but strong.

Made since 2017 at Tetterode Glass in Amsterdam – glasblower: Marc Barreda – materials: glass, brass and LED designed light fixture.
